X & Y the wrong way around

I seem to have a problem with my X & Y axis. Although I have been cutting small pieces of ply I didn’t notice a problem.

It seems as if my X & Y are the wrong way round.
The height is the width and vica versa.

When I press the up arrow the Y axis moves and the side arrows, the X axis.

When I look at the window in Mach3 (screen shot) and press start the cutter moves to the right in the window but to the left on the table.

Could it be I have the X & Y motor outputs swapped.

I am totally confused – anybody know what I am doing wrong
Thanks
David

you can change the wires - swap the wires into the control card.

or go to
>>config
>>port and pins
>>motor outputs

change the pin settings for X and Y (swap them)

you might have to then change the homing directions...
>>config
>>homing and limits

always make changes to a new profile and keep the original one safe... (in case you break it...)

>> config
>>save settings

or your changes will be lost.

also - the !wrong way around" is subjective. Some people like it this way around. it depends.... its all configurable. You can configure Z as Y and Y as Z if you like 🙂 then it really is the wrong way around..

Thanks for the quick reply. I have tried this and although it reverses the direction, it tries to go to the wrong corner when I press Ref All Home.
At that end, there is no stop switch.
I have attached an example of what happens: I draw a piece in CAD. When I cut it, it is reversed. Its basically upside down as you can see in the photo. Left is now right. I can of course turn the wood over and its ok but I assume something somewhere is not as it should be.

>>config >>homint limits

you can reverse the axis direction and the homing direction.

you can also change the direction of motion by changing the "active low" status in the motor outputs for that axis.

up arrow key - machine moves to back of machine (with switch)
down arrow key - machines moves forwards again

left arrow key lef...
right arrow key right...

Hi Rory,

I'm struggling with the above also basically I press right arrow key and machine goes left.
Just want to swap this round I've tried following your steps above but can't find the option. I'll attach a pic.

Hi,
If you are able to, go back to the original way you had the machine, with the original profile, and confirm that the only problem is swapped X and Y. The machine should still home, but in the wrong order (i.e. Z, Y, then X). If that's the case then just swap the motor wires - make very sure you put the correct color into the correct. terminal.

The ways of getting it wrong greatly exceed the ways of getting it correct, so make sure to document every change and the result thereof!!

For what it's worth here's a picture of how I did mine, and it all worked first time with the standard profile.

SC 420/2, Industrial VFD spindle from StoneyCNC
UC100 + UCCNC
Cut2D, Autosketch10, Draftsight, Eagle 9.5.1

There is no problem, however simple, that cannot be made more complicated by thinking about it.
