Hi all

I bought an 840 and the build went well. Instaled UCnc no problem. Selected the correct profile. Ran some tests. Jogged the machine and all was well

Today i was to run my first cut and thought i would jog the machine and now the the machine will not move on any axis

All lights are on. The stop button is out. The software seems to be working but the machine does not move

Any advice please

Can you post a video with the issue, on youtube for example?

Hello Richard,

a couple of questions:
1. As you are running UCCnC: did you copy the serial file into the directory? Otherwise you are just in Demo mode.
2. If you did no.1: Pls check the movement speed which is currently set. Move with the mouse to the left of the screen (the white arrows) and you will get a kind of movement menu. Pls. check the speed which is set there. Typically on start it stands on 10%. Pls. also check if you are not in single step mode (in the upper area of this menu)
3. Unscrew the Y-Axis sligly and try to move with something like 60%. Move to bothe ends and fasten the screws once you reached the end.

Richard,

Check you still have the correct profile loaded - if you machine originally worked (jogging) then you will have your license installed. UCCNC warns you if it is not found and allows you to chose a controller in simulation mode.

Check on the Diagnostics screen that all is sensible too. that will appear to operate correctly even if a default profile is loaded. Its just that the step and direction signals wont be sent correctly from controller - internally the axes will appear to operate normally.

Obviously check that power is applied to the Stepcraft - UCCNC can't tell if it's powered or not in standard form. Design weakness there in the Reset system - it is not failsafe!!

There is no problem, however simple, that cannot be made more complicated by thinking about it.
