Problem with VCarve and WinPc-NC USB was created by bart@caminos
Hello,

I am Bart and a new user.
840 - HF - VCarve Desktop - WinPC-NC USB

We are experiencing an issue with exporting tool paths in the correct post processor for WinPC-NC USB.

What is the correct post processor to use in our case?
We’ve unsuccessfully experimented with a few formats and the support team from Stepcraft advised to use Mach 2/3 Arcs (mm).
However this rescales the design (scale factor is set to 1 XYZ) (see picture). The rescaling is very obvious in the pictures.
Also when testing the machine it appears that the Z axis is inverted which resulted in a broken bit ...

Can you advise which post processor to use ?

Apparently the designers from Vectric are working on an new post processor however I've purchased everything from Stepcraft and assumed it would be compatible.

Best regards,

Bart from Belgium

Update,

The people from WinPc have indicated that the scaling of the toolpath is only a display problem and it does not effect the toolpath.

They also suggested to use the FLEXICAM ATC (mm) post processor which I am testing currently.

Hey Kilroy,

As mentioned the Z axis is inverted when I use WinPC-NC ATC Arcs mm (*.nc).
Which is very strange because when I test the WinPc software with the provided test files it works perfect.

When I use FLEXICAM ATC (mm) it works perfect.

From where ate you In BE maybe we can exchange some idea's.

If the Z axis is in the wrong direction, you can invert it here.

Ubo,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes thats possible I know of the possibility.
However we would need to remember to do this every time we use the system (multiple users).
Knowing myself I can guaranty that I would forget it from time to time resulting is tool and material breakage.

So yes it's possible but not a perfect solution.
So far the tests wit the flexicam post prosessor where very good and we can just load the file and start working.

Bart,

I use Aspire but the postprocessing is the same as VCarve.
Like Udo said check the invert Z-coordinates when using the DIN/ISO data format.
I save my work in "WinPC-NC ATC Arcs mm (*.nc)" and works fine for the Stepcraft.

Hi Bart,

It seems like we are experiencing similar problems.

If I open my exported file from VCarve in WinPc-NC USB none of the tool settings are imported. I tried different postprocessing files but without any succes so far. I assume it is not intended to manually enter all tool settings each time I open a new toolpath from VCarve.

Maybe I'm missing something?

Small mistake, We use the Cut2D desktop software and not the VCarve desktop software. I don't know if this is a big difference?

Jeroen,

You will never see you tool settings in the WinPC program, they are generated within the G-code and will be read by WinPC.
You can see them by opening the editor (F7).

Thank you CNCMiller!

When I press (F7) I do see all settings from Cut2D.
Ready for testing! I will keep you posted!

CNCMiller,

status: WinPC-NC USB does import all tool setting.

but it seems like the Z-axis is inverted like in Bart's case. When I start the program the spindel first dives into the material. second the spindel goes back up and begins to spin.

I tested the Flexicam ATC (mm) and Mach2/3 Arcs (mm) postprocessing.

Any ideas are more then welcome!

Jeroen

Hello Hugonier,

If you don't tell us what setting or what pre-processor you use we can't tell.
Then our guess is as good as yours.

But for start this, if you use the DIN/ISO format you should invert the Z-coordinates and use preferably WinPC-NC ATC Arcs mm (*.nc)

uploading the gcode-file could help....

by the way:

- did you make a reference run?
- did you "zero" your material?
- where is your 0-point in the gcode file ? is it similar with she settings in winpc-nc ? ("0" can be on machine table or top of the material)
- did you make measure run with your tool?
- is your safety height correct?
- are he units used in cut2d and winpcnc the same ? ( both set to mm and mm/sec)

you see there are lot of incluence parameters and possiblilities to make a fault.

Good evening, my name is Luciano and I write from Italy.
I have a stepcraft 840/2 with which I'm trying to get a 10mm plywood grating. The original design made with VCarve Pro then postprocessor for WinPc-nc USB. When processing starts with WinPc, the tool sinks into the material beyond the set limit. I reset the zero point of the z axis to zero. I send you the GCode of the file in question. Thank you for any clarification.

Hoi Bart!

alvast bedankt!
