Z-axis not perpendicular wurde erstellt von julius
Hi all,

sometimes, when I need to dig deeply into a plastic material, the spindle starts rattling when I reach a certain deep, typically 15mm.
Seems that the milling is not perfectly perpendicular to the table, with a little inclination toward the positive direction of the Y-axis.

I'm not an artist, but I will try to explain what happens, for example when milling a cylindrical shape, in the drawing below (inclination is exaggerated).

When the bit is on one side the spindle starts vibrating and noising, when the bit slowly goes on the other side the vibration ends.

The spindle is ok, no run-out. Also the spindle-holder is firmly attached (I cannot move it by shaking it with my hands). All seems "solid".
Somebody else is facing this problem?

I need some trick to slightly regulate the inclination of the spindle in order to get it perpendicular to the Y-axis (the X-axis is ok).
What about adding some "material" between the base of the spindle and the collar to modify the inclination? But I cannot evaluate the thickness of the material to make the spindle perpendicular...
I need a way to add a micro-metric correction, but I have no idea how to achieve this... :(

Hi Julius,

etc.

You can loosen the screws from the X-profile.
Screws are 6mm, holes are 7mm.
So you can try to slightly "twist" the profile to reach perfect 90°

But you have to take care; if you loosen the srews an re-tighten them,
the lead screw might get tensed and machine might "stall".

You should try to reach both (Z = perpendicular, lead srew = not tensed).

Ja, jetzt kenne ich das... :(

I was thinking about that, but I have not considered the problem with the lead screw... thanks a lot for warning me abut that! ;)

I will report here my results.
