I don't know when this happend, but the upper back roller at the right side of the X axis has touched the screw of the end switch bracket, and is now damaged. The screw was not loosen or anything.

Now: this piece can be swapped for a new one, but the whole surface of the slider is scratched too!

I really hate this since I'm so careful with my machine!
Grrrr!

Now, I have to contact StepCraft for spare parts.

Replied by peterg1000 on topic Slider surface scratched by damaged roller.
Was this the cause of your strange noise? Wonder what happened to allow the roller to contact the screw - intermittant operation of the microswitch parhaps?

There is no problem, however simple, that cannot be made more complicated by thinking about it.

Well, the screw comes very close to the roller anyway: a forgotten detail with the transition from 3 to 4 rollers perhaps?
I don't think this has to do with the noise (that's what I was looking for today) but who knows..

I wrote an email to StepCraft with a list of spare-parts: I want to have this repaired!

And after that, it may be a good idea to place some small rubber pads at the backplate of the X axis, to avoid the unit from going too far.
Also the screw will be replaced with a flat-head type instead.

Good news: I received a message from the StepCraft team regarding the spare-parts, and the prices for the replacement parts are not excessive. For approx 40 euro, I can replace the profile and the roll.

So that will be my next project. ;)

Price for spares doesn`t seem too bad, good to hear. I wish buying spare parts was as easy as buying other SC related products, just point and click on webshop. Luckily haven`t needed any yet.

Yes, I agree.
A spare-part section should be set up on the web-store.
I mean: all these machines will fail one day or another, they won't work forever without maintenance and new parts from time to time.

A belt for instance is sensitive to wear and tear.

The spare-parts have been ordered, and I also bought RVS replacement screws (M5 & M6) because the current ones are quite soft and easily damaged.

My system is now undergoing a major check-up.

Still waiting for the parts, I guess I will receive the package somewhere next week. :(

But at least, the RVS screws were delivered yesterday: the quality is so much better!

I received the spare-parts a few days ago, and I've rebuild the machine.
Everything has been tuned, and it's now working great!
