Hi to everyone , i wonder what lubrication oil we must put to the axis x y z ?Is there any name of the lubrication oil that i can buy?The oil or grasso must be something that the dust can't stuck on the axis.

Hi,

and first question back: Where are your from? Because certain lubricants may not be availabel in your country or are sold under another name.

I´ve turned to "Walther" Silicon Spray. I was using Ballistol or simple WD40. But of course you have to watch out because those lubrticants can turn into thick & hard resin (had that problem on another machine already).
Since the Y-Axis has a really good dust cover und the X/Z Axis are out of the way (at least most of the time) from my experience so far: Dirt is a minor issue.

By the way the vacuum adapter is a really good investment ;)

Good idea with the cover. Could you share some pics when its done and on the machine?

About that WD40 issue of yours. Since you have to put some on every 4-5 days I guess you are doing a lot with your machine. Well at least then you don´t have an issue with the lubricant turning into a solid piece of concrete ;).

Maybe you can try silicon spray see if it lasts a little longer. Normal silicon spray from every car shop should be good.

Hi everybody,

you should be carefully with the common WD40 product. It's not absolutely save for many kinds of rubber, vinyl or plastic!

If you like to use a WD40 product take the "Wd-40 Specialist Water Resistant Silicone Lubricant". That's fine for rubber etc. and works nicely for metal on metal lubrication.

Personal I would prefer a PTFE / Teflon dry lubrication which will work perfect for metal/metal, plastic/plastic and metal/plastic applications. In short: sticks on everything, is thin, clean and not a dirt and dust collector. ;)

Check it out:
Dupont/Teflon Dry Film Lubrication

Other user here in the forum are using: Mechanical oil, sewing machine oil, Vaseline, regular Motor oil, gearbox oil, gun oil ...

Remark:
It would be sooooooooooooooooo nice if we could get a statement from the Stepcraft guys regarding the recommended lubrication on the Stepcraft.
That would stop this guessing game immediately ...:woohoo:

It's not only about tools it's also about skills! ;)

Hi,

while cleaning my 420 I remembered this Thread. I use Nigrin "Mehrzwegfett" and "Feinmechanik-Öl".
