Nice and a kind of .............. spooky! I like it! ;)

How did you vectorized the sketch?

It's not only about tools it's also about skills! ;)

Used illustrator to draw the image, then brought that .ai file into Vectric Aspire,
Then selected individual vectors and applied 3D modelling angles and depths then applied tool paths, exported as mach3 file.

Super advanced stuff here for a STEPCRAFT!! not simple 2D any more. Great stuff - really really really impressive. How long did you take? and 3mill ballnose?

Typically with 3D machining - you have to carry out a "roughing strategy" where the "bulk" materials is removed. Then apply a finishing cut for the details.

This is the most impressive work I've seen done on a STEPCRAFT machine.

Cheers Rory,

I want to go deeper with the next version so it's much easier to see.

ROUGHING:
It's 3.5 mm total depth,
we roughed it with the 3 mm ball nose,
1 mm depth of cut,
0.6 mm stepover
Feed rate 600 mm / min
we left 0.5 mm for finishing process this was my roughing.

This took 1 hour 15 mins, but can cut this time down based on the results. Probably go to 0.9 mm stepover and increase feed rate to 800 mm / min.

FINISHING:
0.5 mm depth of cut
with 0.3 mm stepover
Feedrate of 600 mm / min
This also took 1 hour 15 mins. Probably increase the feedrate speed but leave the stepover as is.

The dimensions are approx:
100 mm x 125 mm x 18 mm

Yes a bigger machine would be great and my brother and I have talked about this many times. He wants to make one.
