Here is one newbie question. And I mean a total newbie who just assembled his new Stepkraft 840 machine and is making his first project.

It is a question about the settings in WinPC NC (USB version).
Under the setting "Parameters -> Tools" there are options "Depth, Repetitions and Z-Feed correction"

I understand that Depth goes for how deep do I want to go.
Repetitions is how many times will I make one round.
And Z-Feed correction is what puzzles me.

For example, if my material is 8mm thick and I want to cut it through:

1: The Depth will be 8,5mm
Now, if I want to do it in steps of, for example, 2mm, then the Z-Feed correction should be 8,5 / 2 = 2,125?
So, it will go 4 times and each time it will go 2,125mm deeper?

Is that correct?

Thank you for your answers.

Hi

The depth is the initial cut depth - is you set this at 2mm - first cut is 2mm deep.

Z correction - set this at 2mm & subsequent cuts will be an extra 2mm in depth below the first cut.

Repititions is the number of times z correction is repeated.

Notice on your photo you set depth at 8.5mm . Wrong! - if you did that the cutter will immediately plunge to 8.5mm!

Best way - I also struggled with this - make depth, say 2mm & repititions, say 2 & watch the cutter. Use a simple shape, like a small circle or square to experiment with.
