Software Limits was created by Richard777
Hi All,

I have just bought and built an 840. Installed the UCNC and taken the machine through the initial 'Jog Profile'

The machine stops no where near its limits and I get an onscreen message saying "machine axis position software limits have been reached. The axis has now stopped"

I guess I need to set these limits in UCCNC. Can anyone advise me:

What the software limits settings are for an 840
In UCCNC where do I input and configure them

Cheers

Rich

Configuration / General Setting/ left page "Enabale Softlimits".

Normally you should uncheck this function. If enabled you have to fill the softlimits in each axis setup.

It is for safety reasons. I'm not sure if those are relative to the current axis or absolute. So experiment with these values if you really will use them...

Did you make the reference Drive of the machine?
This is the function where it moving until it reaches every end stop.
After this, the machine should know the soft limits for each acxis.

Hi,

Below is a link to a video Stoney CNC have for using the soft limits. (in their supplied info on the flash drive it is STEP 3B)

As you see, to have them work properly you MUST use 'home all' when the machine is first turned on, so the limits have somewhere to work from, when first setting up I did not 'home all' and got some strange stopping points, so turned soft limits off while I did my initial set up tests, but now use them. You also must use the Profile Specific to your machine.

I do this each time (have a 2-600) and the soft limits work, but I find the Z axis limit is a bit high, but think it better than too low.

Now doing some tests cutting Aluminium, will post results and pictures soon.
