Stepcraft working overtime! was created by hale2160
I have learnt a lot over the last few months - still a long way to go. Been putting the Stepcraft through its paces, very pleased with its performance!

18mm oak house name.

WOW! That looks like a Hight End manufactured piece. Very nice! Made with a Hobby machine? Unbelievable! What SC have you used / what is the overall size / how long does it takes to shape a piece like that?

Thumps up!

It's not only about tools it's also about skills! ;)

I use a 840 with Stepcraft HF500 spindle, high quality cutters, v-carve 6mm and 1/4" down cut end mill from Rory at Stoney CNC (also stacks of advice from from re feed speeds etc.). Software is V Carve pro with UCCNC.

Job size - 345 x 205 x 18mm, cutting time around 50 minutes. I slowed the feed down to about 70% on the to avoid loosing steps on the text.

Really very impressed with capabilities of the Stepcraft. Will post more shortly,

Thanks Hal

This might be of interest, a oak beam for a fire place longer than the machine. The beam size was 1250 x 130 x 40mm. I made a fixed reference jig (MDF) machined on the table. The beam is machined on both sides.

There is great video by Peter Passuello
on machining parts longer than your table.
