Hey everyone,

I'm new to stepcraft and have just got my 420/350w up and running. I'm going to be using my stepcraft in combination with my 3D printer to create prototypes of some devices I'm developing and also to try to create some patterns for model aircraft projects I have in mind.

First job completed - recreated some parts to fix my 3D printer! Here's a poor cam pic of the broken bit I superglued back together and the two replacement brackets made from 2 x 3mm birch ply parts per bracket. Each machined separately.

Thanks to Rory at Stoney CNC for supplying and replying to my after work emails!

Welcome to the forum!

This looks like a DIY 3D printer, doesn't it? Is it based on a known open source design?
One of my next projects will be a 3D printer. Current plans are to build it based on the Ultimaker 2 design. I think with a complete selfmade design it would simply take too long to finish it.

Enjoy your steppi and you're always welcome to show your results :woohoo:

Thanks guys,

I'll be sharing anything interesting.

The 3D printer is a Rapman 3.1. I bought it as a kit a few years ago. The firmware is closed source, and this model isn't supported anymore so I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to change the electronics and it seems like RAMPS is the way to go.

To be honest, I was never that impressed with the results from this machine and I've been wondering if it isn't better to come up with a new design using extruded aluminium sections etc.
