I don't know if it is possible to create a platform were users can share their work files with the community like Youmagine ( https://www.youmagine.com/) or Thingiverse ( http://www.thingiverse.com/) for what concerns 3D printing.

I forgot to ask you!

I noticed that in the video you use 2 different software. I presume that the first is CUT 2D or 3D and the other is Macth3.

Since I don't have one of this machines I would like to know if the CUT is used to generate the gcode and the Mach3 used to find the "Sweet Spot" (balance between feeds and speeds).If not, can you please explain me the process?

In relation to the file sharing

yes we will look at sharing platform for users on the file front.

it might make sense to post the files (DXF's and possible the Vcarve/cut2D files) on the post relevant to the video / image. To keep the files specific to the jobs?

What do you think? if you guys as users suggest what is easiest / best to work with we will take suggestions and implement what is best for you guys?

In relation to the Machining

VcarvePro was used in conjunction with Mach3 (we now use UCCNC - see software section).

VcarvePro imports the dxf (or you can design in Vcarve). You the apply the tooling strategy in Vcarve and generate the Gcode file.

MAch3 then controls the machine and interprets the Gcode file. So you can spec feeds in Vcarve - and then tweak the feeds in Mach3. Can you open up a new thread in the "software section" possibly? And ask the question again? So we keep the forum topic specific. We will reply in more detail when you do open up new thread. thanks.

Yes - I think that is the only way how it could be convenient for everybody.

We can't find the original file - but here is a DXF'd stopwatch file that you can work with.

If you google "Clock vector" or "stopwatch vector" you will find more examples.

the clock in the video was made using a 1mm cutter. BE careful! easily broken!!!

Yes - that is cheap! But would I be in the market like you for a diy clock movement I would properly spend 0.50 or so more at Amazon to be on a faster and safer side. Delivery time is shorter, customs regulations and return policy is clear and I assume you have not to pay a return postage if you need to return the item.

Just my two cents ....
