Made from 3 mm Acrylic (cast), the plates are for 'Tunnel Thrusters' for one of my model ships (still under construction).

They were originally commercial thruster units, but having had problems with one of them, decided to
totally rebuild them, but had to make them to fit into the original housings build into the hull.

The plates have enabled me to upgrade the motors, as the original motors were fitted directly on the
end of the paddle shaft.

My 2-600 will mainly be used to make/cut items for my model ships.

I also use that material sometimes but had several attempts until I managed to cut it...

I finally had success when using very slow rpm and some drops of water for cooling...

Hi,

Thought I would post the settings, there were two toolpaths, this one for the main cut out the other being for the holes,(which was run first) with same settings, but Machine Vector 'Inside', the spindle speed is number 3 on the Kress 1050 FME-1

Also this is some informantion on Acrylic sheet

Thanks for the settings Alan! and the info on theh acrylic sheet!! very useful for other users.

The high quality single flute down cut cutters specifically designed for plastics are the best bet - but are quite expensive. they also help we've found in that they make the clamping / work holding more stable

as mentioned before - going from a double flute to a singe flute has the same effect in terms of heating reduction as doubling the linear feedrate.
