Small Parts- Vacuum Table?

I'm frequently doing small parts that measure 1" x 1" x .5" (LWH). Will they be too small for a vacuum table to have enough surface area to keep them locked in position?

I'm working in wood- Pine, Oak, Poplar, ect.

Right now I'm using tabs to hold them in place, but it requires finish work to clean them up and I'd like to avoid it!

Considering This or similar: https://cnc-plus.de/en/Workholding/Vacuum-Tables/VT-4060-Vacuum-Table--Vacuum-Clamping-Plate-400x600mm-.html

Stepcraft 2 420
500 Watt Spindle
3D Printing System
3d Probe
T-Slot Table

Tooling:
1/8" 60 Deg 4 Flute V Bit
1/8" 4-Flute Square Nose End Mill
1/8" 2 Flute Ball Nose End Mill
1/16" 2 Flute Ball Nose End Mill

UCCNC and VCarve Pro

Total Newbie!

Hi,

I made my own from scrap wood so as to mill small printed circuit boards, and used a small vane type vacuum pump to get a good vacuum. All the unused exposed holes I seal with clingfilm (ceramwrap in USA?) and or masking tape so that I can get a reliable 0.8 - 0.9 bar pressure difference when working. With your 1" square parts that would amount to some 12lbs holding down force.

I milled the top surface flat whilst in position, and have measured the overall flatness to be better than 0.001" - very necessary when milling pcb tracks 0.01" wide.

The vacuum pump is a cheap Chinese unit similar to this :-

SC 420/2, Industrial VFD spindle from StoneyCNC
UC100 + UCCNC
Cut2D, Autosketch10, Draftsight, Eagle 9.5.1

There is no problem, however simple, that cannot be made more complicated by thinking about it.

Best chance to come along without tabs is this: Vilmill

SC 420 mit DIY parallel + Proxxon mit Mod + HF500 + SprintLayout + LibreCAD/QCAD + FreeCAD +WinPC starter/USB->EstlCAM + EstlCAM LPTAdapter + EstlCAM Handrad + DIY Vakuumtisch

Gruß, Andreas
